Over the centuries, musicians have arranged orchestral, chamber and piano music for the organ and there is now a huge literature of transcriptions.
This programme will feature some of the great transcribers of the past including Edwin Lemare, WT Best and Franz Liszt. The music will include the Nocturne and Wedding march from Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Schubert’s Marche Militaire, Bach’s Air from the Suite in D, ‘The Pilgrims’ Chorus’ from Wagner’s Tannhäuser and other favourites.
